Calling Spring

So much time alone. Even here in Faerie we are touched by the current human pandemic; our tourism has ceased for the foreseeable future, as we are not a wholly magical set of Realms like the Fantasy Faire, and our tourist base is largely in Realms where travel is heavily controlled.

Snapshot_019 BLOG

We get depressed, too.

Now, of course, we’re lucky here in my little pocket Realm: if we were a big tourist destination like Awenia, we’d see even more isolation. But, being the stewardess of a tiny Realm has its positives, as well.

Snapshot_016 BLOG

I called Spring

It’s not like you can just get on the horn and go, ‘Yo, Spring! Get me some flowers, immediately‘! You have to concentrate. You have to see the flowers in your mind. You have to be in a space where, if magic did occur, flowers could in fact appear in some way or another (like through this window, for example).

Snapshot_015 BLOG

Being Delighted

And then of course it’s only polite to be properly delighted when Spring does in fact send you exactly what you were asking for.

Snapshot_017 BLOG

And more!

When that happens, of course, there’s only one thing to do:

Snapshot_018 BLOG

Let Spring know you love it

Let Spring know you love it, in no uncertain terms. Make sure it knows. Even if you whisper it completely to yourself, Spring will hear: trust me.

Snapshot_014 BLOG

Send It Forward.

Then, send it forward, far and wide, everywhere you can reach. Don’t worry: Spring knows you can’t reach everywhere. But there are plenty of others who will help you pass Spring along. We’re everywhere.

Credits and Notes:
My friend Mystie, also known as Mystical Edenflower, has a little shop in Second Life called MishMash Fusion. She will be the first person to tell you that she is not a super amazing original mesh creator, but the woman is a goddess with style and texture, and when she showed me a photograph of this dress (in another colour), I knew I had to photograph it.

She called the dress Unchained Melody, and I love that song: it’s part of the soundtrack of my childhood. It was released the year before I was born (so now you all know that I am super old). The most famous woman in that year was apparently Julie Andrews, and while this isn’t a perfect Julie Andrews avatar, it gives a nod to her.

Dress: MishMash Fusion, Unchained Melody (You can get it soon at the Garden Of Hope event, which is a Relay For Life event, so a percentage of what you spend there will go to the American Cancer Society.) Garden Of Hope opens on the 29th of May!
Shoes: Ingenue, Audrey for SLink kitten

Ears: Swallow, Elf Ears High Definition

Short Story Roundup

From The Author: Lately, I’ve not been inspired to write a lot of longish stories and have been sticking to single photographs. So here is a bit of a roundup of the last week or so in photographs. These have, except for one, already appeared on my Flickr feed, so they might seem familiar.

The Moth, or “Capture” and “Escape”

Short Stories BLOG - 1

Moth Working Shot

I knew Ritual was going to release a green skin for the Trick or Treat Lane event, but I didn’t have the skin yet. Now, green is not my favourite colour, and I only very rarely (like only when I want to blog one) wear green skin, so I wanted to find a concept that worked for me with a green skin. Luckily, I’d just been to the Lootbox event, where Devious Minds had this gorgeous moth outfit gacha. So, here is the dry-run shot that I took and edited before the eventual photograph with the skin itself. I’m including it here because it was fun to shoot and also because the character changed a bit in my head between concept and finished photo.

Quick credits: moth set is from the Devious Mind “Falena” gacha, at Lootbox. Hair is Magika, “Irene”. Avatar styled on LAQ Noelle Bento Mesh Head and a Maitreya body, with SLink Pointe feet.

Capture

With the addition of the new skin (Ritual, Elspeth in tone Rheia for Trick or Treat Lane ), plus some brighter eyes (Cerebrus Xing, Uni Eyes), and dark lipstick (Pink Fuel, Dazzle Me-Haunted), and a change in hair (Tram, 0314), this character became, for me, a dark fairy captured, perhaps because she committed some crime or perhaps because of who she was. This is possibly her mug shot, although it might be a self-reflection from wherever she is incarcerated.

Short Stories BLOG - 6

Escape

Here is how the final photograph with the darker skin turned out. Whether she is re-captured, I do not know, but the story is somewhere in there! Even though I’d saved camera angles and lighting settings, things weren’t exactly the same, as you can see, and in order to soften the shadows I added an overlay in Affinity Photo to soften them. The Flickr version is cropped differently and I think more effectively.

I’d mentioned to the lovely Wren of Visionaire that I have been unsatisfied with a lot of the bloggy photography lately and felt like I was sliding in to some old habits (over-lighting, boring subject focus, and also over-lighting). Funny how when you talk about something, it suddenly seems to come clear to you? A lot of these pictures are partly influenced by that conversation.

Credits: Same as for the test shot, with the additions noted above. This great pose is from Le Poppycock‘s new Fairy Winds set.

Dignigoff

I’m still crazy in love with HEXtraordinary‘s adorable Lord Bartleby Von Tinkleton; isn’t everybody? I’d just finished the blog story about his visit to and planned takeover of Awenia, but I really wanted to put him in every photograph ever at the time, so here he is as Gwyneth’s travelling companion to some important Nu Jyorck function or other. This dress is 1313 Mockingbird Lane‘s beautiful (and versatile!) Delirium Dress, which will officially debut at The Black Fair on the 5th of October, and the shoes are also from 1313 Mockingbird Lane. They’re the Luna Mary Janes, and you can get them at Trick or Treat Lane , where there are many other amazing things, as well!

Glamour Shot!

Short Stories BLOG - 3

Glamour Shot

This is an unapologetic fashion red carpet style photograph of 1313 Mockingbird Lane‘s Delirium Dress, which will be available at The Black Fair. It’s not often I like a dress so much I want to photograph it twice, but something about the fall of the skirt and the fact that there was a cherry print for it made me wonder what would happen if you put a Goth girl into a 1950’s sitcom. So here she is, probably ready to go out for blood burgers and zombie shakes with all her friends from school! I’d also been wanting to photograph these Marcelina shoes from Bliensen + Maitai for ages, so long I don’t even remember where I got them, though the properties tab says I acquired them on the 5th of May this year, which probably means the May round of We Love Roleplay. Regardless, they’re gorgeous little witchy pumps, made for SLink kitten feet. I wish more people would design for kitten and pointe feet, but I’m weird. I searched far and wide for this cherry-themed jewellery and finally found it on the SL MP from Petit Chat. Searching for anything with the word “cherry” in the description on MP is…. yeah. We suffer for art, y’all. We really do.

I Woke Up Like This

I’ll be honest: I didn’t mean to take this photograph. I was testing hairstyles for the moth photograph, and I came across this one from Tram (H0414) and considered it as a possibility. Then, when I was cam zoomed in on the avatar face, it struck me that this would make a really nice portrait, so I adjusted her expression and shot it. It ended up showing Ritual‘s beautiful Elspeth applier really well, so I decided to share it. And, really, don’t we all love living in SL where we really can wake up like this?

The News

The News

Sometimes, a creation just inspires me on sight. That’s what happened with this evocative skin from Jeanette’s Joint, Chronicles. I knew it had to go with clothes from the Belle Epoque Undimmed Eyes set; I didn’t even consider any other outfits to photograph this. I wore this outfit for like three days, I liked it so much, and trust me when I say my Second Life is mostly full of costume changes! Once I had the avatar dressed, the character that emerged was an investigative reporter for the Nu Jyorck Ganger, a big daily newspaper. This is her byline photo. As for the rest of the story, I don’t know it yet. Maybe I never will. Some characters are ephemeral.

Here’s the text from the Flickr post:

Look at this quirky, whimsical, downright glorious skin from Jeanette’s Joint! If you’re feeling significant (and, indeed, topical!) and you want to take this baby for a spin, you can pick it up for L$249 at the Fallen Gods Twelfth Anniversary Zodiac event. And this isn’t the only super cool thing there! Not only is there great shopping, but this event also promises great parties, cool chances to find your One True Soulmate (and win a limited edition skin!), and the Zodiac Hunt.

  • The Amazing Skin: Jeanette’s Joint, Chronicles Skin. Comes with Catwa, Maitreya, and Omega appliers. At the Fallen Gods Twelfth Anniversary Zodiac event.
  • The Exactly Right Outfit: Belle Epoque, Undimmed Eyes (this was at a Lootbox event, I think, but it’s sure to be in the Belle Epoque Main Store now).
  • The Understated But Fetching Hair: Exile, Lily (I think I got this at Hair Fair, but my brain is catnipped at the moment; anyway, it’s in the Exile Main Store).
  • The Thoughtful, Yet Appealing Eyes: Heaux, Glaze Eyes (fatpack light), for Genus
  • The Ears Of Hopefulness And Newshounding: Lumae, Leevi Short Ears. (At the Lumae/Ritual Main Store)
  • The Fae-Means-Business Eyebrows: Simple Bloom, LaraDawn, High Arch. (At the SimpleBloom Main Store)
  • The Flirtatious Yet Forward Thinking Eyelashes: Michan, Cheryl Lashes (from the September 2019 Genus Project Powder Pack).

Gwyneth is styled on a Maitreya mesh body and a Genus Project Baby Face Bento Mesh Head.

I would say she never reveals her sources, but that would, verifiably, be what we call irony.

So, I guess that’s the news from this week.

Surgical recovery is finally done, so I go back to work on Sunday, 6 October. I will do my best to keep up the bloggity blogs.

The Calm After

Sansa BLOG - 1

Winterfell seems quiet now.

Winterfell seems quiet now. Everyone’s gone South, and I’m spending my days worrying. I know the news, when it comes, will be full of tragedy. I just hope not very many of those tragedies will touch me. Does that make me selfish? Sorry; not sorry. I spent too long being timid and sorry: now I am Lady of Winterfell, and I will be whatever I please.

Sansa BLOG - 3

Disconcerting

It’s somewhat disconcerting not to have anybody here I can really talk to. Because let’s face it, Bran is creepy. I’m not sorry for the “unfortunate demise” of Littlefinger, but at least he had a vocabulary. And of course I’m concerned about Jon, in the clutches of that woman. I’m glad I told Tyrion who Jon really is; maybe they will sort the whole thing in King’s Landing and I won’t have to worry about it.

Brace Yourself

And then, it happens. There’s a shout from the courtyard overlook. “My Lady! There’s a Raven from King’s Landing.”

Here we go.

The Appearance of Fitness

I don’t work out. Yes, I really do get up like this, and even if I didn’t, fae glamour provides me with the means to look any way I like. That said, I do like to dance, and sometimes muscle memory is nice. So when I discovered a faery-run dance studio in Nu Jyorck, I booked a couple of lessons to see how things would work out. Bran came along to photograph me. I swear, he’s like my personal paparazzo.

SS-NB BLOG - 3

I made a photo face.

So of course I made a photo face. Bran accused me of looking at too much Instagram. OK, maybe I have been overindulging a bit, but the faces humans pull when you try to take their photographs really amuse me!

Steps

My tutor was of course a hot Sidhe guy of Scandinavian descent: in Nu Jyorck I wouldn’t have it any other way. We ran through some basic dance moves before working on some expression and flexibility.

Modern (Royal Fae) Living!

CASTLE BLOG - 1

I first saw it from the Treehouse.

I first saw it from the treehouse. The morning sun split one tower away from the others. I guess Nathaniel had been out doing something at Mysthaven, because he wasn’t with me. There were so many things going on in Awenia, in my Faerie, just then: I was busy adding some things in to the book forest and making enough spaces for the Fae who would one day call Awenia home to live. I suppose I hadn’t thought of the need for a castle… until I saw this one.

CASTLE BLOG - 2

As soon as I was reasonably put together, I ventured out to explore.

As soon as I was reasonably put together, I ventured out to explore. By that time, there were already flowers and trees springing up around the edges of the castle lands.

CASTLE BLOG - 3

And what better way to explore a newly arrived, majestic, obviously empty castle than on stag back?

And what better way to explore a newly arrived, majestic, obviously empty castle than on stag-back? I couldn’t think of one, so that’s the way I chose to do it.

CASTLE BLOG - 4

There followed some serious rumination on my part.

There followed some serious rumination on my part: namely a quick trot round the perimeter and a text message to Nathaniel: We’re Moving. Obviously Yule Decorations Will Come First. Because I knew Nathaniel would be fine with that. I mean, it’s not like I gave him no warning at all. I think last time I decided we were moving, I probably just — no, wait. Last time I decided we were moving, it was because somebody blew our house up. Right. But I think there was at least one time where he walked up to me on the street and said, “Love, where’s our house gone?” That’s probably just what he gets for marrying me. I should come with a Caveat Emptor clause.

CASTLE BLOG - 5

Nevertheless, he showed up that evening just as I was putting the candles in the reception.

Nevertheless, he showed up that evening just as I was putting the candles in the reception. He looked kind of uncomfortable. “Should a Queen—I mean, former Queen—really do her own decorating and furniture moving, even if it’s with magic?” he wondered.

“One. I am not a former anything. I am still a Queen: I abdicated Wylds, not Queendom altogether,” I said. Perhaps I was a bit snappish, but he keeps on pretending I’m no longer a Queen at all. Seriously, who does that? “And two: Bran has been helping with the furniture, and magic is more fun and more cost effective than minions.”

“Clearly,” was his reply. He still looked uncomfortable.

“These candles are pretty tall,” I said.

“I remember when I used to call you ‘shorty’,” he replied. Oh, boy. It was going to be one of those nights.

CASTLE BLOG - 6

“Look! Holiday treats for our guests!”

“Look! Holiday treats for our guests!” I said.

“We don’t have any guests,” Nathaniel replied. “Therefore, they are for us. Nice gingerbread.”

I sighed and moved the gingerbread men around so it wouldn’t look like My Beloved Consort had taken one. “Clutie made these, you know,” I said.

Nathaniel might have choked. Or it could have been a cough.

CASTLE BLOG - 7

“What do you think of our tree?” I asked.

“What do you think of our tree?” I asked. “I found it at one of those holiday markets. It’s from The Looking Glass.”

“So, Clutie didn’t make it.”

“No, Clutie didn’t make it.”

“What’s Bran doing?”

“Eterior decorations. He says he has never decorated a place with electricity before.”

“That should be interesting,” Nathaniel said.

CASTLE BLOG - 8

“Hey, is that mistletoe?” he asked.

“Hey, is that mistletoe?” he asked.

CASTLE BLOG - 10

“Of course it’s mistletoe,” I replied.

“Of course it’s mistletoe,” I replied. “You don’t really think I’d put up Yule decorations without mistletoe somewhere, do you?”

He didn’t answer, but then it didn’t really matter. I do still love him so.

He didn’t answer, but then it didn’t really matter. I do still love him so. I know our relationship probably looks a little weird, but it’s still the best relationship a Fae Queen could hope for.

CASTLE BLOG - 9

“Do you think our relationship looks kind of weird?” I asked.

“Do you think our relationship looks kind of weird?” I asked.

“Don’t be silly: we’re perfectly normal, darling,” Nathaniel said.

Just then a shout came up from outside. “Your Majesty! Come and see the outdoor lights!” Bran sounded as excited as I’d ever heard him.

CASTLE BLOG - 12

“Gosh, Bran—that’s a lot of lights,” I said.

“Gosh, Bran—that’s a lot of lights,” I said.

“I know! Aren’t they amazing?”

I winced. “They are breathtaking,” I replied.

Nathaniel winked and kissed me on the cheek. “I’ve got to get back to Mysthaven, but only for a few hours, love. Can’t wait to see what you’ve done to the place by morning.”

And then he was gone. And I, well. I let myself think, as I wandered around the still mostly empty castle, how it should look. I added a few pieces here and there.

CASTLE BLOG - 13

I wondered if one day I’d be “that crazy old fae lady in the castle who lives all alone and feeds the birds.”

An Oracle in The Rose

Funny thing about the Great Faire: you never know what will happen to you when you cross into a new Realm. I found myself in The Rose, for example, blindfolded.

The Rose BLOG - 4

I held a pendulum in my hand; around my neck was another.

I held a pendulum in my hand; around my neck was another. And I knew, somehow, that I was up high. It might have had to do with the combination of bright sunlight I could feel and sense, and the wind that left me chilled despite what felt like direct sunlight.

When I toed my way to the edge of the platform I was on, I realised that there was a sheer drop all around. And me without my wings.

The Rose BLOG - 1

All hail the power of thought, for then I found myself in a darker place, and I could feel warm tiles beneath my barely-shod feet.

All hail the power of thought, for then I found myself in a darker place, and I could feel warm tiles beneath my feet.

I stilled and placed one hand on the necklace, then let the pendulum dangle between my fingers. I stilled myself, and as my breathing became quiet and regular, I felt, ever so slightly, the pendulum tug against my fingers.

The Rose BLOG - 2

I turned. What else could I do?

I turned. What else could I do? And I began to walk in the direction the pendulum seemed to want me to go.

The Rose BLOG - 3

I felt I’d climbed hundreds of steps when the pendulum finally stilled again.

I felt I’d climbed hundreds of steps when the pendulum finally stilled again.

And what did it have to show me? A formal garden, beautiful in its way, full of statues. It seemed to be all right then to take the blindfold off. Of course, I had no time to look at myself; I was too occupied with looking at The Rose itself.

The Rose BLOG - 7

There were roses, of course.

The Rose BLOG - 9

There were lions.

The Rose BLOG - 8

More than one lion, in fact.

The Rose BLOG - 11

A dome view that spanned several realms.

The Rose BLOG - 6

I might have mentioned the lions….

The Rose BLOG - 12

Oh, and rose petals. Rose petals everywhere.

The Rose BLOG - 13

Inside, scattered lights and archways. And more roses.

The Rose BLOG - 10

Did I mention the roses?

In the end, I was exhausted. All the steps, all the walking. At the end of my day, I still had no idea what the pendulum had been trying to show me, not until I had left the Realm for other spaces.

And then I looked back, and suddenly the answer seemed obvious.

The Rose BLOG - 5

It was The Rose, herself.

Of course! It was The Rose, herself. Why did I have to be blindfolded to discover her? Do we look more closely when we cannot see? How else can I experience the Realms differently as I spend the last few days of the Great Faire wandering the wondrous Fairelands?

Dawn’s Promise is a Dance

I have danced so much at the Faire this year. Recently, I told you of my experiences dancing on The Hill. But it struck me, as I landed on a little outcrop of luxury outside the town proper: Dawn’s Promise is, itself, a dance.

And does it bow back? It doesn’t matter.

And does it bow back? It doesn’t matter, for soon you’ll be swept into a waltz of bridges and water, the sashay of moss, the clear, beating heart of brick and stone.

Dancing on The Hill

Oh, The Hill. Colours just seem brighter there. Light seems to come from all directions. Animals and tiny creature frolic. It made me want to frolic, too. And then, of course, there is the music. At the Great Faire, music comes from all directions. Sometimes it’s contemplative and thoughtful, but last night, there was dance music. As I walked into The Hill to prepare for the Great Fae Parade, I could not contain the desire to dance.

I felt saturated with colour and sound!

I felt saturated with colour and sound! And suddenly, I forgot all the things that made me unhappy. I forgot about leaving the Wylds. I forgot about everything but my body, the rhythm, the desire to move.

Dancing on the Hill BLOG - 2

It felt so good to be completely aware of my body.

It felt so good to be completely aware of my body. Too often, I think, I live in my head; it’s probably my academic background, my distance from my own emotions (I think that’s the Sidhe influence).

This year, I have been having fun at the Faire. I know every year I have fun shopping, but I’ve spent a lot of time finding myself at these Faires. I remember experiencing my development from my mortal shell into the Sidhe I was born to be, four years ago at my first Faire. And then there was the process of becoming a Queen during that Faire as well. My second Faire was fraught with relationship difficulties, hiding from the Gypsy Davey, avoiding The Amazing Catwoman. I still need to discuss our share history with her. It’s so hard to believe that she was once my best friend. Now, we seem to circle one another with distrust. I think she is afraid I will hate her. Or maybe she just doesn’t care any more. I wonder if she is at this Faire. She has been a guard at the Faire for events; it may be that she has found work here again.

It was even fun to lose my balance!

It was even fun to lose my balance! I fell, laughing, to the grass, then danced my way to another of the rooftops, closer to the sea. The sky was impossibly blue. The grass was impossibly green. My skin, covered with bright festival paint, seemed to glow in the sunlight. And suddenly, I felt a sharp knife of desire in my belly.

Dancing on the Hill BLOG - 4

For just a moment, I was lonely, sharply, horribly, lonely.

For just a moment, I was lonely. Sharply, horribly, lonely. It isn’t that my love for Nathaniel has dimmed. It’s just that my Sidhe self, my sensual body, has the touch hunger, all the time, and I, I push it down because my mortal background says love is more important than sensuality and sex. But there I was, in the happy sunshine of The Hill, desiring nothing more than a lover, a beautiful Sidhe lover. A faery man with the ability to engage my body and my emotions and my mind at the same time. A soft and beautiful interlude. A woman with soft lips. Skin on skin. The smell of sweat and hair, long hair, falling around my face in a curtain.

Nathaniel, of course, knows that I have had other lovers. These have often been matters of the Land; they’ve often felt like obligations. Every time I gave myself to Maric, I knew that deep down, we did not really even like each other, that when it was all over, the night, the festival, the need to recreate the magic of the land, all that would remain—but between Maric and me, there was nothing. He was impenetrable as a soul, impossible for me to understand. I was shocked when I mourned him, shocked when his loss was the catalyst that made me just not want to be Queen any more.

I could have loved Mornoth, but he entered my life when I was already halfway gone from the Wylds. The war drained me, drained us all, and I didn’t want to live in a world of war.

That’s why the Faire, The Hill, is so wonderful. The spirit of love and camaraderie fills me with joy and desire. Joy and desire. That’s what’s been missing, missing from my life. Joy and desire.

And as I stood on The Hill, waiting for my fellow Faire Fae, I made a decision.

And as I stood on The Hill, waiting for my fellow Faire Fae, I made a decision.

This year, this year. This year I’ll be open to love.

Once Upon a Fairy Tale…

Yesterday, I took the Gypsy Davey to Once Upon a Fairy Tale.

Yesterday, I took the Gypsy Davey to Once Upon a Fairy Tale.

The sim, which is currently in the SL Destinations Guide, is a whimsical smorgasbord of several floating islands depicting various bits and pieces of fairy tales.

Davey, of course, went straight for the Elven Pavilion.

Davey, of course, went straight for the Elven Pavilion, to pay his respects to the goddess and to have a photo snapped with her earthly depiction.

We then spent some time just roaming around the sim. There’s a lot to see, and no way to capture all of it in a series of photographs.

I was reminded of all the time I spent in 2007 searching out SL Stonehenges.

I was reminded of all the time I spent in 2007 searching out SL Stonehenges. That entry is somewhere on LiveJournal, but suffice it to say I used to love finding stone circles in odd places (people’s living rooms, pubs, the backs of trucks….). It was a fun hobby, particularly back when wearing the wrong pair of shoes could result in, um. Teleportation fail ring a bell, anyone?

Above this particular stone circle, two dragons are locked in eternal battle.

Above this particular stone circle, two dragons are locked in eternal battle. In the distance, you can see the topmost point of the Elven Pavilion. Davey thought we should at least try to scry out who would be the winner, but I, because I may be slightly more versed in Arthurian myth than he is, told him we should let it go and move on to explore other parts of the sim.

Selfie with the Buddha?

Selfie with the Buddha? …Yeah. We arrived at an Asian corner of the sim, and Davey insisted on having his photograph taken with this statue of the Buddha. Cheesy grin, “come at me bro” pose, and all. Sometimes I don’t know what I’ll do with him: he manages to be charming throughout these juvenile flights of fancy, so it’s impossible to be angry with him, but still. I’m not sure the Buddha was all that impressed, though bless him, Davey did not try to rub the statue’s belly for luck on the way out.

Eventually, we came upon Davey’s own people.

Eventually, we came upon Davey’s own people, in the form of a Gypsy Fortuneteller. Davey was properly respectful and asked me to hang back while he talked to the woman. Later, he explained that while business was slow for her, he didn’t want to alarm her: it isn’t every day that the presumptive King of the Gypsies, albeit from another Realm, shows up at your fortunetelling tent, you know?

“Davey, what are you doing with that spyglass?” I asked.

“Davey, what are you doing with that spyglass?” I asked. “You aren’t even holding it right.”

He turned to me with an elongated sigh. “There are beautiful women around here,” he said. “I just know it.”

“I am not spending the day as your wing man,” I said.

“I don’t need a wing man,” he replied.

OK, that may be true, but I didn’t want him to start wooing women and getting the whole sim in an uproar. “Why don’t we go and look at the unicorns?” I suggested.

once-upon-a-fairytale-blog-8

“Look at this tiny house!” Davey shouted.

“Look at this tiny house!” Davey shouted. “Even I’m too tall for it!”

I just shook my head. At least he wasn’t horndogging.

once-upon-a-fairytale-blog-7

“You should call this one, ‘Even Unicorns Love Me!'” Davey suggested.

“You should call this one, Even Unicorns Love Me!” Davey suggested.

“Do you have to plaster on that cheesy grin every time I take your photograph?”

“Yep. Makes me look seductively sinister.”

I may have actually face-palmed.

Airship ride

But all Davey’s bravado and silliness were knocked aside when we discovered the airship. He was silent and fascinated. And probably trying to read over this poor guy’s shoulder, but that’s a skill you learn when you spend a lot of time realm-hopping. It’s a good way to figure out where (and when!) you are.
