Three Twisted Knots

I thought it was time to give a more complete overview of Awenia Faerie and how it’s changing this summer, and of course as your Queen it made sense (to me, anyway) to start in the Royal Book Garden.

The Royal Book Garden itself is linked to the Book Forest, of course; these places grow organically out of one another in Faerie. Thoughts Are Things, we say, and so I thought one day that it would be lovely to have a less manic version of the book forest to which I could take visiting Fae royalty—because some of them are just so snooty that if you don’t spread out a formal lunch for them they feel slighted. And honestly, I think they enjoy feeling slighted, some of them. It always makes me laugh when I say ‘honestly’, because the fact is I am unable to be dishonest, being Sidhe.

And just never mind what’s going on over my shoulder: it’s somewhat troubling on that far island. There are noises. I’ll investigate it later. For now, I would love to show you these incredible storybooks that have appeared on stumps and little bookshelves around the edges of the Garden, and we’ll also take a look at some of Kilik Lekvoda’s beautiful statuary, and then—wait! Did you sense that? Of course you didn’t: you’re not here.

Is… Is there a squirrel on my Tea Table? Do you ever sometimes get the feeling that there is a squirrel on your tea table? Happens to me all the time. Of course, there never is…

But this time… There is! There is a Squirrel on my Tea Table! Look, you little ingrate! That’s my tea and more importantly (yes, I can see you!) my honey!

It’s unacceptable. Little woodland animals do not get to just trot in here and have their way with my lovely food and sweets…

And I’m always giving in to them; I always do it, because they’re so cute! Oh, look at those big brown eyes! Who’s a doe-eyed little chonk? You are! 

Yeah.

So then I sat down and had tea with the squirrel. His name’s Bernard, by the way. And he’s a bachelor. I don’t know why that matters, but he was emphatic about it.

I don’t remember what I was going to say. Where was I going with all this? Nope; totally lost the plot. Oh, well: I’m sure I’ll remember later.
