It happens to everybody.
It happens to everybody. Stuff gets in the way of our favourite hobby, and we can’t turn out five stellar blog posts in a week.
In fact, I’ve found the experience of going back to work after nearly 18 months out of the business absolutely draining and exhausting. Not to mention we’re having a heat wave of epic proportions here in London, which is bad for my energy levels as well.
But stuff doesn’t stop just because I’m busy doing something else, so my pile of cool stuff I want to show you keeps growing. I have a few days off, and I’m going to try and work through this pile! So without further yammering on from me, let’s get to what you all want to see, which is COOL STUFF!

First, a fun dress from Fable!
First, a fun dress you can find at Fable! This is from Glitch, the Aly Mini-Dress. This is version F, and it’s my favourite, because I really like this colour yellow. The multicoloured flowers made it easy to match with the Frilly Heels from Death Row Designs for this month’s Shiny Shabby event. The hair is another one from the current round of Hairology; this one’s from Wasabi Pills, called Misty. The stunning skin comes from 7 Deadly s{K}ins, the Breeze skin in colour Sand. I haven’t done anything with red hair in a while: it was this gorgeous LAQ applier that made me decide to experiment with a red-haired avatar for this series of photographs. Body is Maitreya, Head is LAQ Trinity, Ears are Logo Expressive Elf Ears, Eyes are from Avi-Glam, the Elysian Eyes in colour Lime.

Here’s a closer look!
Here’s a closer look, so you can get an idea of how the skin and hair work together. I should mention this is the updated LAQ Trinity 1.5 version, so you will be seeing a few of the newly-updated expressions as we move through the cool stuff!

Second, this lovely frock from Shiny Shabby!
Anybody who knows me knows I am practically queueing up for each month’s Shiny Shabby event. I don’t always like everything I find there, but I’m bound to find something that I think is just the best best best evah evah evah. This dress from sYs is called Candy. While it is fairly open and cool-looking for summer, it’s not ultra-revealing (which I actually like), and I particularly like the skirt detailing. Each colour comes with two colours for the under-skirt: the one for the Midnight colour pictured here is either the same colour blue or a lighter blue. And I guess you can tell I love these shoes from Death Row Designs, because I’ve put another colour of the Frilly Heels on my avatar here: this is the Black. Body is Maitreya, Skin is 7 Deadly s{K}ins Breeze in colour Sand, Head is LAQ Trinity, Ears are Logo Expressive Elf Ears, Eyes are from Avi-Glam, the Elysian Eyes in colour Lime.

Now that we’re closer, let’s talk HAIR!
Now that we’re closer, let’s talk hair! Another offering from Hairology, this is Cheveaux‘s M0868. I really liked this unusual hairstyle, but I had a hard time putting it on Gwyneth, because it makes her look like a ten-year-old, given her features and colouring. I was really pleased to find that with this set of features and colouring, the avatar doesn’t look even remotely ten. Though she might devour you while you sleep! I still haven’t figured out if she’s a demon….

Moving on to something fun and unusual from Genre!
Moving on to something fun and unusual from Genre, which if you don’t know is having a them of Burlesque this month, here we have the Versailles corset and bustle from Bender. One of the great things about Genre as an event is it seems like they really try to source a lot of the stuff from their monthly themes not from a regular “stable” of content creators, but from creators who relish making stuff for whichever genre they’re showcasing that month. This month is a real stand-out round for Genre; I found so many things to love there. I think this corset is my favourite one: I just love the colour way and the deft addition of the leaves, particularly at the bust. The corset itself is an Omega applier, and the bustle is an add-on piece, in the five standard mesh sizes. Unless you turn the avatar sideways, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell this is an applier, and the unusualness of the leaf pattern makes me think that Gwyneth is likely to wear it with jeans and a cardi come Autumn. The beautiful butterfly necklace is Papillon, from M’s Avon, which you can pick up at Fable. The shoes are yet another colour way of the Frilly Heels from Death Row Designs, this time in See-through Blue. Again, you can get these shoes at Shiny Shabby! Body is Maitreya, Skin is 7 Deadly s{K}ins Breeze in colour Sand, Head is LAQ Trinity, Ears are Logo Expressive Elf Ears, Eyes are from Avi-Glam, the Elysian Eyes in colour Lime.

In a closer look, you can see more detail of the corset, the necklace, and of course the hair!
In a closer look, you can see more detail of the corset, the necklace, and of course the hair. This hair is another Hairology offering, from a hair creator lots of us had never heard of until they showed up at Hair Fair last month and blew everybody’s socks off, Mello. This style is called Early Sunsets.

And sometimes, you can find great stuff at the Thrift Shop!
And sometimes, you can find great stuff at The Thrift Shop! Actually, you can nearly always find great stuff there: you just might have to hunt to find the perfect thing for you. This dress is from Adoness, and it’s called the Dionysius Dress. This is colour Bloodstream. When I tried it on for this post, I couldn’t resist the thought of trying it with the Wicca’s Wardrobe Witch Boots over at Enchanted. I had to go back and buy them, the idea was so irresistible….! I’d been looking for the right outfit to show off this beautiful necklace from Zombie Suicide, which you can, again, pick up at Fable. I thought it was just right for this one. The fishnets are from Big Beautiful Doll; they come as appliers for various bodies, and I found them on the SL Marketplace. Body is Maitreya, Skin is 7 Deadly s{K}ins Breeze in colour Sand, Head is LAQ Trinity, Ears are Logo Expressive Elf Ears, Eyes are from Avi-Glam, the Elysian Eyes in colour Lime.

Another great hair from Hairology, this one is from Alice Project.
Another great hair from Hairology, this one is from Alice Project, called Zahara.
So, I shall have to write a notecard to all my beautiful creators and the events I represent, explaining that once again I might not be blogging as much as the next girl. They have all been so patient and understanding with me, particularly over the last six months since Joe died. I’ve felt really supported by all my SL friends, acquaintances, and groups throughout this whole process, particularly those I’ve met through Relay For Life Of Second Life, where everyone you meet has been touched by cancer in some life-altering way. I hope you’ll all stay with me as I learn to navigate the sometimes choppy waters of returning to work after widowhood! 🙂
No style cards today; all information is in the text!
Notes on events:
Fable will close on 27 August, so get over there!
Hairology closes on the 30th of August, so you have a little more time on that event.
Spiffy photos taken with the indispensible aid of my LumiPro. I never take editorials without it!
