Three Twisted Knots

Tales of the Fae Lands

Sullen, and Satisfied, in Sialdor

From Friðrós:

It didn’t work. At least, not the other night. I guess purple is not radical enough to raise Her Majesty’s anger. But I am no huldefólk who gives up. No; I will try again and again. This time, Moth favoured me with a lovely Viridian paint, and I topped it off with some shiny lacquer from rainnn. The Petrichor dress was a must-buy, after that, and I had some Hexumbra shadow in exactly the right colour to make it pop. Then, I checked out Raven Bell‘s hair studio for the cut and colour. She can’t ignore this.

Big honking tree, but my hiding didn’t go so well.

Sialdor is … green! Which meant that I blended right in. Here I am trying to lose myself in a tree, and failing. But in a place so green, surely there were other spots to get lost in.

The town itself is creepily orderly. Brán would love it. I’m surprised he’s not here somewhere right now. There are also these… the locals call them golems, but to me they look like something from outer space. They are everywhere, and it feels like they’re watching your every move when you move through the town.

Seriously from outer space.

I just… I don’t know; they freaked me out.

Appropriate meme?

Is the appropriate meme “I’m walkin’ here!” or, “Don’t taze me, bro!”?

I was just looking at the barrels! Fine; I’ll find somewhere quieter.

Surely there must be somewhere in Sialdor that’s not so… orderly.

And oh, there was!

As it turned out, there was! Sure, I had to climb over a couple of spiky walls (everything interesting in Sialdor is behind a spiky wall!) and go through a bunch of unnervingly straight alleys to get there, but there it was, a copse of blessed green.

Grass up to my A double crooked letters.

And before I knew it, I was in grass up to my *ahem*. It rhymes, trust me. The glowing head on some of the grass stems fascinated me, of course. I like glowing things. Who doesn’t? Saying you don’t like glowing things is like saying you don’t like dragons: a lie. Nope, I wouldn’t believe you if you said it.

Once I’d communed with the green and escaped Certain Golem Death by managing to get back over the wall so none of the creepy watchers saw me, I headed further into the town to do some shopping. Surely someone has some really bright lipstick that will finally make her scream at me.
