Three Twisted Knots

Tales of the Fae Lands

A Change of Scenery

From Gwyneth:

I know, I know. I said I was going to show you that beautiful Fantasy Treehouse. But then, I don’t know. I was finishing up the garden, and one of my neighbours came by to see how it was going. Honestly, they got my hackles up immediately, because when I told them where I ordinarily live and that this was my home away from home, they said, ‘Well, I’d think that as a Queen of Faerie, you’d want to have a home away from home that wasn’t in a Faery kinda place’. They shrugged. ‘I’m just sayin”.

I became Very Polite Gwyneth after that— if you know me at all, you know that when I go frostily polite, our days as even acquaintances are, well, numbered. But they just kept on talking as if nothing was wrong, which of course made me feel slightly (OK, more than slightly) superior.

Later, I was standing on my front porch balcony, watching another glorious Fantasseria sunset, and I couldn’t even pay attention to it properly, because I kept looking at their house and thinking how I didn’t want to be neighbours with them.

And, that’s when I packed the whole treehouse up and joined the current Game Of Homes round. I decided to throw in on the most different place I could think of to Fantasseria, and so I went for a stilt home!

I couldn’t have been luckier! They say the Game of Homes is a fickle, mercurial, and sometimes capricious beast, but I got lucky.

Don’t tell Nathaniel, but I have even signed up for sailing lessons!

Living Room to Kitchen

I found this beautiful lounge suite at Petite Mort, and of course the corner bookshelves are the Mercantile Bookshelves from Apple Fall (repainted, of course). Above my little occasional table (also from Petit Mort) is Venture’s Bookshelf Art, all the kitties represented. In my art corner, above the Death Row Designs miniature Last Hope Statue, are two paintings from my new favourite artist, JudiLynn India. She is the first artist in residence at Second Life Motown, and I encourage everybody to head over to Second Life Motown to see her beautiful work. Of course there has to be a clock (this one’s from Kraftwork, but repainted), and a coffee station from Jane&Finch (with coffee positive signs from Schultz Brothers). This kitchen is the Chez Moi Bellshire Kitchen.

The Kitchen Side

Alongside the Bellshire Kitchen, I grabbed the Moss&Mink fridge from their Una Kitchen (it’s my favourite), and of course the pantry shelves are from Kraftwork (repainted). And a home just isn’t a home without a Man On The Wall from RatzCatz. My favourite bar stools, because they look comfortable, are these Tala Bar Stools from Moss&Mink. I figured with only Clutie to assist in the kitchen, I wouldn’t need too much, especially since I don’t plan to be entertaining for more than, say, a dozen.

The Study

A home wouldn’t be a home without a place to write, and I wanted this one to feel both calming and inspirational. The desk, chair, and art wall (with some bits customised) are Nutmeg’s Thrifted Study collection, and the up cycled cabinet is from Kraftwork, along with the book stack and the What if I fall board. The beautiful Tree of Life is from the artistic mind of Fantasy Illuminations, and of course that’s another Apple Fall Mercantile bookshelf, this time in white.

The Bedroom Side

It took me forever to find the right bed! I finally found something simple at Cheeky Pea that I ended up loving, particularly because it had all white bedding and I could retexture it happily (textures are from Clutter, the Lodon Fabric Textures). The dresser and lamp table, plus the hanging stars, are all from the same Cheeky Pea set. The Ostara altar, including everything on the table and the hanging herbs, is from Nylon Outfitters; I found it at the current round of Collabor88. The mermaid pillow, easy chair, and rugs are all from Petit Mort (so’s the jute rug by the door), and the ubiquitous PBR mirror is this time from LSD.

All the other wall signs are from Simple Things‘ latest offering at the Arcade; it’s well worth a look.
