It’s not all work, work, work. It really isn’t. I do have a life. And I do the same things that you or anybody else might do with your days.
I like to relax, like anybody else. I spend a lot of time in the garden. I love the peace and tranquility of nature.

Of course, there are animals to be fed: that has to happen every morning, and I tend to get up pretty early so I can take care of all the feeding and grooming.

I admit it—I talk to them too. I’m pretty sure this cow has something very important to tell me! Just kidding: she only wanted to complain about the weather. Cows are so English sometimes.

I also spend a lot of time walking. It’s good for the lungs and the muscles, and the cardiovascular whatsis. And you can see so many wonderful things when you slow down and just take a walk. This gate separates the Queen’s Road from the village green, I like that it has foxes on it. We do have a few foxes in the forest here, but I haven’t seen many around lately: they are not overfond of humans, and the more the tourist trade picks up, the less likely they are to be seen anywhere except right at dusk or dawn. The rest of the time, they keep to themselves.

The village green has lots of string lights; they’re suspended between bigger lamp posts. Fae folk don’t really have “normal” human sleep schedules, so they’re up at all hours, and I think it’s easier to get a hot dog here in the middle of the night than in Nu Jyorck. And of course the public revels are held here, as well.

I do really love Awenia. There’s so much to do here, so much to see, and like I said, it’s not all work, work, work.

We’ve got some great coffee shops, too! Just kidding: this is an advert for a café in a nearby Realm that I got roped into. Not that I don’t like my work, it just gets boring sometimes, always being expected to strike the same titillating poses.
But enough about my boring job: let me show you a little bit more about why I love Awnia so much.

This is a silly sign the demifae put up for tourists. Isn’t it cute? There’s another one on the other side of the High Street. They giggled like mad when they made it. Really, I’m lucky to live in a Realm with a sense of humour, don’t you think?

Now, of course, things start to happen when it gets dark. There’s always a revel, always some dancing and singing. And even though I’m not here as often as I’d like to be (work, work, work!), I enjoy getting involved when I can.

Dancing around the Lantern Tree in the Queen’s Garden is always fun! Revels go on late into the night and sometimes into the next day, so you have to be prepared for anything. We even keep refreshments that are certified safe for humans around so that nobody has to worry about becoming dehydrated because they’ve been warned off Fae food.

Even the best revels have to end sometimes, though. Or, really, sometimes I just get tired and go right to sleep in the middle of one! Nobody ever seems to mind. One time I woke up to find three pixies braiding my hair. Well, I say they were braiding… I resembled a jellyfish when they finished: they said that was just what they’d been planning. I’m still not sure about that.

Anyway, life in Awenia for a pin-up girl is the same as life for everybody else. Awenians are very accepting of different type of folk, for the most part, and even though I do sometimes get asked to kiss people a bit too much (have to carry extra lipstick with me everywhere!), I’m just as ordinary as the next girl.
