Three Twisted Knots

Life … is a funny thing. It never goes the way you expect it to. And growing up is never about taking the straight path from one space to another.

Spaces are another funny thing.

The scenery doesn’t always change. Sometimes, you’re walking down the same roads you have walked down for years. Even the light seems to remain constant.

Maybe you look the same. Maybe you were born green and will always be green, and maybe you were born a munchkin, or even a monkey.

Yes, maybe you look the same.

But you don’t feel the same. The wind shifts. There’s an updraft. A fire starts. Someone drops a house on your sister.

And then…

You change. Maybe it starts slow, a little feeling of unease. Or maybe it starts with a fury that threatens to explode.

And, if you’re smart…

You think. You think, how is this my life? You think, what did I do to deserve this? You think, what does it matter? And then you think, who, who in their right mind would ever have the guts to stop me?

Then, you act. Sometimes things go your way, and sometimes they don’t. When they do, well abracahappiness. When they don’t…

Sometimes you have to fight.

You fight, and fight, and fight again, and when life has thrown at you every sharp object you could ever imagine and a few you would never have dreamed of, when life has done that and you beat it back, time after time, and you’re still surviving, and you look around at the world with a raised eyebrow and a little smirk, and you really just don’t care what anybody else thinks of you any more….

Well then, if you’re very fortunate and very strong….

You become Wicked.
