I never want this holiday to end. There’s something about just being relaxed and not having to worry about what’s happening just around the corner, taking time for myself, that just makes me think, take stock, change stuff.
Now, I am not a girly girl. I never have been. But I guess sometimes even the ungirliest girl goes through a little spate of girliness.
First of all, all that time spent at It All Starts With A Smile tanned my skin—and I acquired freckles! Really, I spend so much time working in the dark that I never even imagined I’d freckle. Who knew?
Freckles! Wow! After I left the Island, I went to see the amazing lady at Analog Dog, and she hooked me up with this new hairstyle. She calls it Charlotte. And, you know. Suddenly, I looked in the mirror and I saw a girl, not the girl guarding the art exhibition or the girl making sure the fairies are safe at night. Just a girl. And for a second, just for a second, I almost thought I was pretty.
Once I had the girly feeling from the hair and the freckles, fate led me to Fair Play, where I found, believe it or not, a dress.
Me, in a dress? I mean, I’ve had to wear dresses when I’ve been in deep cover in some mediaeval environment, and sometimes there are places where there are dress codes for women, but I can’t remember the last time I bought a dress just to wear for me. OK, it’s not the girliest dress in the world, and I still can’t be bothered to put on heels, but it’s fun, and I love the combination of black and stripes.
It even has a name! The dress is called “Sinister”, and it’s from a designer named Van Luck. I guess maybe it’s comfortable to me because it’s not unlike a tunic I might wear in the field. So maybe that’s why I don’t mind showing a little thigh.
These photographs were taken at Eclectica, one of my favourite places to visit. There’s so much to see there, and the people are friendly. There’s no place better to walk through and explore.
Isn’t it amazing how just a few small changes can make you feel like a different person? I wonder how many people I am, how many I can be.
