Three Twisted Knots

Tales of the Fae Lands

Is this a lark, or a lapse?

From Lira:

I was able to mop some tech from one of the libraries, so I am now outfitted with an old iPhone 14, a decent pair of over-ear headphones, and an iPad with a keyboard. Don’t know why I grabbed the iPad except that it was there, and it had a keyboard and nobody else seemed to be using it. I’m sure it’ll come in handy eventually.

The good thing about having some tech is that even if it won’t work in all places, I can often get a GPS signal, and that at least lets me place myself somewhere in space wherever I end up.

And I’m beginning to learn that this realm-hopping lark is sometimes more art than science, which consterns me. Is consterns a word? It is now. And ah! I see from the OED Online that consternation actually comes from the Latin consternare, or more accurately, its past participle, consternatus, so “consternate” can be my personal neologism. Or one of them: perhaps I shall have many. My teachers would say this is clearly an example of CLA (Chimerical Language Acquisition), because we aren’t brought up in households; we only know the rules well enough to break them, conditionally.

But I divagate. I was thinking about music, thinking about that music that always seems to be somewhere in Awenia, and I wondered if I could get back there somehow musically.

WHUMP

Well, that didn’t work out nearly as cleanly as I’d hoped. I found myself falling, bum-first, onto a piano bench in a dark room. And that wasn’t the end of it. Let’s just say I ended up having a lovely nap on the floor of whatever conservatoire I’d breached.

Luckily for me, nobody came in before morning, at which point I’d awakened and, aside from the sprain to my dignity, I felt much better for having slept a few hours.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off….

Time to start again. You know, I seem to remember that in the Great Library of Awenia, Her Fae Majesty kept a large collection of Tarot cards. Surely that can’t be common. Maybe I should investigate reaching out to other Realms by means of this common card link. I’m sure there’s some research out there.
