Three Twisted Knots

Tales of the Fae Lands

Enchanted at Midsummer Enchantment

It was a sad day

And I wasn’t sure why it was a sad day, except of course for all the reasons why I was sure why it was a sad day. I’d run out of books to read, for one. I hadn’t had my hooves done in days, for two. And because things always have to come in threes in Faery, um… I wasn’t particularly happy with the colour of my ears? Or maybe it was something about the rain. Yeah: let’s go with the rain.

The fact is, and this is the absolute truth as only a fictional construct can tell it, The Author’s been a total downer lately. She got super burned out after Fantasy Faire (when does she not?), one of her kitties is sick, there’s all kinds of stress going on in her Other Life, which is where she is when she’s not here to tell us what to do, and to top it all off, someone she once trusted screwed her over epically. This, I can say as one of the (many) voices living inside her head, happens on average once every decade or so, so personally I’d rethink where she’s putting all that trust if I were she. She would like me to shut up about her now, and let’s face it: you don’t come here to read about her, or you’d be starving for information. Anyway, it was a sad day.

So I had this idea, because I am always having these ideas… maybe I should, I don’t know— go shopping. Possibly not the healthiest hobby in the world, but way better than developing an addiction to something illegal and unhealthy. Except for chocolate. Like I didn’t already have an addiction to that.

I love living in a simple world, where the answers are always right in front of you if you only pause to look.

Luckily for me, The Author hasn’t thought up any complications for me, because I only just started to exist earlier today. I don’t even have a name yet, but what I do have are spiffy antlers and the nicest hoofs ever. Which need to be polished! And I’m sure there’s someone out there will do my hoofs!

I’ll go to Midsummer Enchantment and do some serious shopping!

I love that the portal is a mushroom circle—it makes so much sense to me. I mean, maybe not everyone is used to travelling by faery ring, but the vibe was pretty good.

Travelling by Faery Ring! Totally a Thing.

Of course I immediately gravitated to the big statue I could see….

I feel better already!

And of course there was so much more to see throughout this gorgeous event.

Much More to see…

Everywhere there were reminders of our Fae and Pagan and Heathen heritage. I love when folk pay attention to the year’s turnings and the way the sun’s journey matters.

My hoofs can wait—look at these nails!

Let’s see… nails, eyes, dress antlers… what else can I do? Or have I done it all?

Well. You could never do it all

You could never do it all, because nestled everywhere, there is another adventure. And that’s why it stopped being a bad day.

On to the next adventure?

It stopped being a sad day because there is always, always, another thing to see, to do to live, to experience. There is always a new archway to go through, a new door to open, a new world to explore.

Like this one.

Like this one, above. How could a day stay sad with so much Enchantment about?
