Everything goes with Purple!

Today is the Summer Solstice, so I headed over to the Midsummer Enchantment shopping faire. It’s always beautiful, and I love summer. There were some gorgeous things to see, and, of course, buy!

*Right from the start, I felt more beautiful.*

I ran into the Hexumbra Faedragons almost as soon as I paid my ticket fee and made my way inside the faire. They decided since there was purple in my hair, I needed purple eyeshadow, and then of course I found this top that was exactly the right five shades of purple, so it worked beautifully. And the little purple gem on the necklace from Miamai, not to mention the temporary tattoo Miamai had as part of the same set, made me realise that one thing I was missing: clearly, I also needed purple fingernails.

On my way, I had a good chance to look around the faire and see what else was there… this event might warrant more than one trip!

The seasonal high holiday faires are among my favourites. They’re always beautiful. Everywhere you go, you find a special tree, a statue, a mushroom glade—once I found a whole farm! I like this lady, half-buried, suspended in the earth, anointed with light.

It wasn’t long before I found the Eventyra salon—they’re always at these faires. And look! I got purple nails to match everything else!

Purple nails, purple lids, purple blouse, purple gems— I’ve got it all.

And suddenly I got this picture in my head, of the way I used to dress. All browns, mustards, blacks, no bright colours at all. It’s not been that long, but I’ve changed a lot. That doesn’t mean I don’t ever wear brown any more. But I never would have worn purple back then.

I always thought people who wore bright colours, and there were many of them in the Realm of Awenia, were a bit shallow on the inside. And I used to have a joke with Captain Wulfrich, that people who wore bright colours always stood out and were probably terrible at hiding from— well, from whoever might have been chasing them. Or something like that; I forget how the joke went, but Wulfrich thought it was very funny.
