Salutations and Preparations

You know, I don’t think it’s fair that The Author goes off and does whatever she does, while we are all stuck here in limbo for… nine solid months? Seriously, that’s gotta be a record of some kind for her. It’s not as if she was doing anything important, of course: no, she was moving house and going to Germany to do something with this band she’s in, and then, oh, she got sick over the winter, and about six more pages of whinging and I’m done; just done. It’s not as if I could just go out and find another Author, but I think we ought to form some kind of a union, or at least get better at nagging her.

And now of course I’m whinging, which of course is all her fault. But really, I just came here to tell you that I totally snuck out and went to Ostara’s Altar on my own. That’s where I got this great new tunic from Senzafine. I also found, in a secret location, some gorgeous makeup from Faeble that will be in one of the shops at the soon-to-be-all-I-can-talk-about Fantasy Faire! I also have a beautiful new custom-made tattoo from Sehas Tattoo Store. It’s a Vegvisir, which is supposed to keep me from getting lost. That’ll be fun to test out! I love how it just sits on my cheek right there. I have other tattoos, but this one is special.

Yes, Myrkandraum, everyone can see that you’re still here and you haven’t left me alone this whole time. No, I do not have a mouse in my pocket. Go find your own.

Since I had such a moving experience in Ondheim last year, I’ve decided to embrace my roots. Myrkandraum, having already chastised me for not being Huldufólk enough, has been happy to help with my education, and he’s been teaching me runes and seeing and all sorts of other fun things I’ll tell you about eventually.

In the meantime, we are of course all tasked with getting Gwyneth and the Shining Throng ready to make their annual pilgrimage to the Faire! Gwyneth says she thinks we are staying in Lavendell this year, but of course we won’t know ’til we get there, because if she doesn’t absolutely love it she will make us find other accommodation while she gallivants off shopping or something. That’s why I did not feel guilty at all about just taking an afternoon portal over to Ostara’s Altar. Girl’s gotta have new clothes, amirite?

Oh, I also got my nails done. Gwyneth won’t go anywhere except Eventyra for manicures, and I suppose I take after her in that way: BC is absolutely the best nail technician you could ever hope for, and she is always willing to work folk in. I don’t know how she does it. Anyway, these are from one of her sets from last year, and they’re called Vegvisir visions. So I guess I will be even less likely to get lost now that I have these guiding my way! Go back to hunting, Myrkandraum: I’m not listening right now. And it’s not like I’ve expensed much of anything since last year’s Faire, seeing as how The Author has kept us all in suspended animation…. Right; I promised I’d stop grumbling about that. But really.

This year, I hope something amazing happens. I mean, something amazing always happens at the Faire, but it would be wonderful if it could be something just for me. Like, I don’t know. I could make a friend who isn’t already part of Gwyneth’s retinue. Or pull a stupendously horrible prank on Lady Mystic (she deserves it!). Or sneak up on Wulfrich, which everyone tells me is impossible.

I don’t know. But Faire is coming. The possibilities are endless!
