Short Stories: Tales from The Christmas Event

Now, I know the new Linden Homes have been out for a while, but I love mine, and I don’t know why more folks don’t take advantage of them. I mean, sure, the location lottery is a crapshoot, but play your dark little cards right, and you’ll have a location you love, amirite?
So, for this Christmas Event, I decided to challenge myself, in my gothly glory, to showing you all the niftiest stuff in my Linden Home.

I started, as one does, by gutting the place, going through three different houses, and finally settling on this one, Rosebrooke. It’s one of twelve different layout possibilities (well five, really, but there’s an open plan version of each layout) you get when you choose a Linden fantasy home. I selected Walnut for the floor and Oak for the wood accents. I went with beige on the walls, because even though I would obviously prefer black, it’s the holiday season and people want to see their bright colours. You have no idea how strongly this goes against my inner nature.
Now there are two most positive things I think when I consider getting ready for the Yule/Christmas/Holiday/Run-Up-To-Saturnalia/Insert Your Favourite Name For the Holiday Season Here season:
- Food; and
- Food.
That’s it. I am all about the food. That means we’re going to start with the dining area!
I’m choosing to put the dining area by that first window you see on the right; there’s a little bump in the wall that gives the area some shape, and this way I can bring a large space into focus with different interest points at different places. (What? I might be a goth Christmas elf, but I’m also a designer!)

I chose this Moss Light Area rug from Park Place, because I knew it would go with the beautiful Frost dining room from Kaerri. Because I know there are people out there who are going to ask — yes, the non-centring is on purpose. I find completely balanced spaces (and photographs) boring, and so do most eyes, even if the brain hasn’t caught up to the idea yet. I promise it’s true! Like, why do you think everyone looks terrible in their passport picture? Because a passport picture has to be perfectly centred. Life is not perfectly centred.

Sure, I could have put some stuff up on the walls, but I will not want to be looking at a floor-to-ceiling picture of Mr Claus whilst I’m eating my holiday victuals, thankyouverymuch. Instead, I opted for Crystal Witch’s beautiful goth curtains and let Kaerri’s lovely decor provide the rest. Who wouldn’t want to sit down for vegan feast at this table?
Now, don’t worry: I’ll be bringing you all kinds of things my cohorts and I will be up to this holiday season, possibly including but definitely not limited to: gloomy gift exchanges, cemetery picnics, and the ever-popular midnight metal carol sing!
But for now, this elf has to get her sleep while it’s light outside: there’ll be another night before you know it!
